PERKINS’ GROUSBECK CENTER FOR STUDENTS & TECHNOLOGY ACHIEVED LEED SILVER RATING
With universal design concepts at the center of the project’s green design strategies, the Grousbeck Center for Students & Technology at Perkins received LEED Silver certification. Creating healthy environments and providing all users with easy and universally accessible control over the building systems was central to GUND’s design approach. As one of the first buildings in the country to incorporate accessible building controls, the Grousbeck Center for Students & Technology is a benchmark for the use of technology to achieve universal accessibility.

SERVICE CREDIT UNION OPENS

On October 12, 2012 Service Credit Union celebrated the opening of its new headquarters in Portsmouth, N.H. Governor John Lynch delivered the keynote speech at the dedication ceremony. The other speakers included Gordon Simmons, President/CEO of Service Credit Union, and John Prokos, FAIA, Managing Principal of Gund Partnership, among other project leaders and dignitaries. Clad in glass curtain wall and locally sourced granite, the 100,000 square-foot building creates a new landmark and unified headquarters for the growing credit union. It is located on a major corridor leading into downtown Portsmouth, and is the first project in the city’s new Gateway District. Reflecting Service Credit Union’s commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility, green design strategies were central to the design approach. RADIO PERKINS LAUNCHES
Radio Perkins, a student run Internet radio station based in the Grousbeck Center for Students and Technology at Perkins, officially launched. Radio Perkins allows students to collaborate with each other across the various Perkins programs and communicate with teachers and their peers. The student produced programs air Monday through Friday and can be streamed live from the Perkins website.

Grousbeck Center Receives Innovation In Green Design Award
The Grousbeck Center for Students and Technology at Perkins received a 2012 Innovation in Green Design Award from the U.S. Green Building Council Massachusetts Chapter. The new building is on track for LEED Silver certification and incorporates a variety of innovative universal design concepts that appeal to all the senses and engage the diverse student body. The design jury recognized the project for its attention to the idea of making sustainability accessible to all.

Newton North High School Receives BSA Design Award

GUND Partnership's design of Newton North High School in Newton, Mass. was recognized by the Boston Society of Architects with a 2011 Award for Design Excellence. The 413,000-square-foot public high school is located in a fine grained residential neighborhood and boasts a comprehensive vocational technical program.
