Inn at Harvard, Harvard University
Cambridge, Massachusetts
Designed to accommodate Harvard-affiliated visitors, this 116-room inn provides guests with a residential atmosphere not often found in commercial hotels. The four-story, 57,000 square foot building maintains the residential scale of nearby Harvard “houses” and features an interior, central skylit courtyard lobby and lounge which allow daylight throughout the public circulation spaces. Also included are meeting rooms, a restaurant for guests, and a 58-car underground parking garage.

Located on a prominent, triangular site, the Inn at Harvard is the focal point of a strong, new visual axis extending out from Harvard Square. As a continuation of the Harvard campus, the Inn maintains a similar architectural scale and attitude. Replacing a vast public parking lot, the project refurbishes the area and through sensitive scaling and detailing, maintains the goals both of campus and community.
